Power in Love
Rea L. Ginsberg, LCSW-C, ACSW, BCD
R.M.S. Berengaria, Cunard Line, 52,000 tons – launched in 1912.
“The largest liner [passenger ship] in commission in the world.”
I am here because they were there… Bold warrior-voyagers.
There is power in love, power to change the world,
To transform strangers into family,
And families into sustaining community.
Love is a way of life,
On the rocky shore
Of a boundless sea,
Conducting every wave
Into an unceasing unity,
Order and harmony -
Voice of melody and conscience,
Sensitivity and imagination.
Maestro of the Silken Ocean:
Love and joy and peace.
In communities lie the stories and their rituals
That pass down the generations,
"Who am I?" narratives,
"Why am I here?" responses,
Also keeping hope alive
In times of trouble –
Candle’s long reach of light and warmth
Against the dark cold.
Storytelling is a moral imperative.
“Always” lives in memories told;
The past bears this pledge;
Such is history – a record of our potential.
Love is the way.
There is power in love, hidden and healing.

“Maestro:” Many years ago, a tall, lean figure stood delicately balanced on a huge boulder at the edge of Lake Michigan. He looked like an ancient god that the heavens forgot to re-call. From his perch, long arms outstretched and hands open wide, he “conducted” the incoming waves as they rolled toward the shore and crashed/splashed there. Man firmly guiding obedient nature. The vision was exceptional, indelibly impressive, never to be forgotten. It held a mystical, supernatural quality. It was exquisite. It is roughly captured here.
“Silken Ocean:” an expression that flowed from the pen of Bonnie Roberts, poet, as she described her brief experience of being dead. -- Website: www.bonnierobertspoetry.com
